Jenny's Clayhouse Pottery Studio Review
May 15th, 2009

My daughter and I had a girls night out on a recent Friday evening at Jenny’s Clayhouse on Hertel Avenue in Buffalo . Jenny’s Clayhouse is a paint your own pottery studio. It is in a great location on Hertel Avenue, among all of the restaurants and unique shops - the perfect spot to relax and get creative.

Inside the studio there are a lot of pieces to choose from, all neatly displayed on shelves. There’s everything from coin banks to food platters. Don’t be intimidated if you don’t consider yourself to be artistic. There are also a lot of samples of finished pieces to look at for inspiration. Some use special techniques which Jenny explained to us and told how much time was required to complete.

Once we selected our pieces (I chose a flower petal bowl and my daughter chose a fairy statue) Jenny showed us how to dust off our bisque to prepare it for paint. Then we selected our paints and brushes. The paint bottles all have samples next to them to show the color will appear after it is fired. There are also stamps and stencils to choose from to decorate your pottery. Jenny gave us advice on how many coats of paint to put on and how colors would look together. Once we were done, Jenny would fire our pieces and we would come back in a week to pick them up.

In addition to the regular studio hours, Jenny’s Clayhouse also offers Summer camps, Birthday parties, girls nights, couples nights and more. The inventory changes occasionally and seasonal items are available.

Jenny’s Clayhouse is located at 1599 Hertel Avenue in Buffalo . You can call them at 835-4386.
