Parent Review: Explore & More Children's Museum Feb 12th, 2009Last week my three year old son and I had the best date at the Explore & More Children's Museum in East Aurora, NY. This is the first time I have visited this museum and I must say I was extremely impressed! The minute I walked through the door I was transported to a child hood dream-"Grown-up-like" places and things for kids! My son was in heaven.
The staff is amazing and were extremely kind to my son,as I had an informative walk through tour by the museum's director Barb. I was completely floored when the staff informed me there was a private snack room where we could sit down and enjoy lunch or snacks that we brought. Being new to this museum it never occured to me to bring our own food. What places can you bring your own food to nowadays?? They are usually wanting to charge $3.00 for a granola bar!
Here are some of the fun things my son was able to do: -He participated in a art class especially for toddlers. He played with colored shaving cream and playdough, painted a picture AND got to run race cars attached to sponges through paint! -He dressed up like a Carpenter and worked on building a framed in house with his own tool box-very cool for those Bob the Builder Fans! -Rock Climbing: he was able to climb up a rock wall. -Fishing- He fished in a real wooden row boat and then sold his fish at the market. -Learned about wind mills and actually go to play with pretend one -Picked vegetables out of a make believe garden
One of my favorite parts of this museum is the fact that your child can "travel" the world and get a peak into other cultures. My son and I had a blast visiting countries including: Mexico, Vietnam, South Africa and the Netherlands.
Your child can learn about these countries by interacting with fun games on the museum's website here: http://www.exploreandmore.org/world/default.htm
I would highly recommend the Explore & More Children's Museum to any parent. Not only will your child learn a lot and have many hands on experiences he or she will have tons of fun doing so. And so will you!
