Niagara Climbing Center: fun for the whole family! Jul 10th, 2009My family and I visited the Niagara Climbing Center located at 1333 Strad Avenue in N. Tonawanda. We met with one of the owners, Rhonda, for a one on one demonstration. What a wonderful woman! Extremely personable and kind and her passion for this sport was contagious.
We had never climbed walls this high so we were very excited! I was impressed by the patience of the staff. They took the time to go over all of the safety rules and directions with each and every one of us, including teaching us how to harness in and then how to climb the wall. Then they waited patiently as we practiced on our own. I was assured that our family was climbing in a safe environment.
After about 45 minutes of the kids climbing around like monkeys, my husband and I harnessed up. Let me tell you this would be a great date night! We were surprised at how challenging some of the walls were-what a fun work out.
Every part of the facility is clean, including the bathrooms. There is a variety of walls and routes for beginner, intermediate and advanced climbers. Each wall is structured to feel like real rock with bulges and top-outs. There are a total of 40 top rope stations, each 20 feet high. They also have music playing in the background which makes it more fun.
Our time spent at the Niagara Climbing Center was fantastic. It is perfect for a family outing because climbing is fun for any age. Our kids could not get enough! |
